An Educator and two (2) passengers escaped unharmed after gunmen pursued and opened fire on their white VW Polo on Vincent Dickinson Road in Cottonlands – KZN this afternoon (Wednesday, 20/05/2026).

Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call for assistance after the victims drove to a school in the area seeking assistance.

Reaction Officers were dispatched and on arrival interviewed the driver who explained that he was travelling home from work when he noticed a red VW Polo parked near Canelands Corner. As he proceeded along Vincent Dickinson Road, four (4) men in the vehicle allegedly began pursuing them at high speed.

The suspects reportedly overtook the vehicle several times and attempted to force the motorist to stop. Fearing for their safety, the driver accelerated in an attempt to evade the attackers. During the pursuit, the gunmen discharged multiple rounds at the vehicle.

Two (2) bullets struck the rear of the vehicle. One (1) round damaged the right rear bumper…
