The Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) urgently advises all motorists to avoid the N3 Northbound at the Buccleuch interchange, as all lanes are currently closed.

The complete closure of the N3 North connecting onto the N1 North is due to an active crime scene currently being processed by the South African Police Service (SAPS).

Law enforcement officials are on site directing traffic, with all vehicles approaching the interchange on N3 North being diverted onto the N1 South at Buccleuch. Heavy congestion is rapidly developing, and delays are expected to be significant.

Motorists are advised to avoid the northern section entirely by taking the M1 North earlier in the journey to bypass the eastern route. Alternatively, exit the N3 onto the R25 (Modderfontein Road) or M54 (London Road) to navigate through the grid system towards Midrand/Pretoria.
