On Wednesday, 11 March 2026, members of the Western Flying Squad responded to an alert about a motor vehicle spotted on the Main Road of Muizenberg. The grey Honda BRV was involved in a robbery that had just occurred in Claremont and a theft that occurred earlier this month in Wynberg. Upon spotting the vehicle, a high-speed chase ensued. The suspects drove towards Gordon Road, Kalk Bay, facing oncoming traffic, with Flying Squad members in pursuit. Eventually, the suspects’ vehicle left the road, its tyres burst, and the airbag deployed.
Inside the vehicle were two male suspects, aged 58, and a 31-year-old female. Members searched the vehicle and found two mag wheels that had just been stolen from a motor vehicle in Muizenberg, as well as an elephant tusk. The three suspects were arrested for theft from a motor vehicle, possession of presumed stolen property, robbery, general theft, and contravention of the Nature and Environmental Conservation Ordinance Act 19 of 1974.
