Proverbs 22:4 – The reward of humility [that is, having a realistic view of one’s importance] and the [reverent, worshipful] fear of the Lord is riches, honor, and life. [See also Proverbs 21:21]
Proverbs 21:21 – He who earnestly seeks righteousness and loyalty finds life, righteousness, and honor. [See also Proverbs 15:9; Matthew 5:6]
So many of us are dumbfounded by the results we get out of life, struggling to understand the reasons for our failures. When life does not turn out as we dreamed, we grow despondent and lose focus.
The burden we bear as men is heavy, and the responsibility is overwhelming. We have been told and taught that men should only provide—but my friend, that is a lie. If we are created in God’s image, we are far more than mere providers. God loves to build and create, and so should we.
Yet society demands and dictates that we fit into a mould crafted by a godless world. We blindly follow and become entrapped in this snare. We hope and pray for good lives, but too often we find ourselves standing in fields of destruction rather than the idyllic land of milk and honey we long for-covenant fields.
Why is this? Because we follow the precepts of this world instead of the precepts of God’s Kingdom. Yes, you must live your life—but God comes first. As Matthew 6:33 declares: “Seek first the Kingdom of God…”
Things God Calls Men to Be
• Image Bearers of God
Created in His likeness to reflect His character (Genesis 1:26–27).
• Leaders in Love
Called to lead families and communities with sacrificial love, not domination (Ephesians 5:25; 1 Timothy 3:4–5).
• Servants
Following Christ’s example of humility and service (Mark 10:43–45; John 13:14–15).
• Protectors
Guarding households, faith, and communities against harm and falsehood (Nehemiah 4:14; 1 Corinthians 16:13).
• Providers
Diligent in work and responsibility, ensuring care for their families (1 Timothy 5:8; Proverbs 12:11).
• Men of Courage
Strong and courageous in the face of trials, trusting God (Joshua 1:9; 1 Corinthians 16:13).
• Faithful Witnesses
Living as examples of Christ’s truth and grace (Matthew 5:16; 1 Peter 3:15).
• Teachers and Disciple-Makers
Passing on wisdom and faith to the next generation (Deuteronomy 6:6–7; Matthew 28:19–20).
• Stewards
Managing resources, talents, and creation responsibly (Genesis 2:15; Luke 16:10).
• Men of Integrity
Honest, upright, and consistent in word and deed (Proverbs 10:9; Titus 2:7–8).
• Prayer Warriors
Standing in intercession for families, communities, and nations (1 Timothy 2:8; James 5:16).
• Brothers in Fellowship
Living in unity, accountability, and encouragement with other believers (Proverbs 27:17; Hebrews 10:24–25).
This list shows that God’s calling for men is not about power or privilege—it is about responsibility, love, and faithfulness.
We are meant, and have the capacity, to do amazing things—if only we begin to see our true value in our families, communities, and the world. I am not saying that our much-needed counterparts—our wives—are unimportant. On the contrary, without them we cannot become who we are called to be. A good woman is like the missing piece you lost at birth; only she can activate you to become the man God designed you to be.
But brother, what if you are to blame for the destruction around you? God has given us free will to build upon what Christ has already done—He has set us free from bondage. Bondage can take many forms: family curses, destructive mindsets, poor approaches to finances, or impulsive decisions made without seeking the Lord’s counsel. The list goes on, but it is real. We all suffer from what I call the “freewill complex.”
Lets Pray:
Father of my wild dreams, I surrender all my hope and dreams in your arms. I trust you fully in creating and sculpting the world I always seen in my Heart. Give me courage to implement your precepts in my life and make me into the man you called me to be. I lay down my will and take up your banner over my house – May your Kingdom come – Your will be done on earth as in heaven.
I pray this in Jesus’ Name – AMEN!
