Crash victim found alive after initial reports of a fatality

Following initial reports of a fatal collision on the M19 between Dunkeld and Reservoir Hills on Thursday morning, KZN VIP Medics, while travelling through the area, stopped at the accident scene to render assistance.

While assessing the collision, medics discovered that a Male occupant, who had reportedly been declared deceased by a previous ambulance service on scene, was in fact still breathing but remained trapped and partially ejected from the front windscreen.

KZN VIP Medics immediately began stabilising the patient while urgently requesting additional emergency resources.

Through Advanced Life Support intervention by KZN VIP Medics, together with EMRS, and with the assistance of the Fire Department and Metro Police, the patient was successfully extricated from the wreckage.

He was stabilised on scene in a critical condition before being rapidly transported to a nearby medical facility for urgent further care.
