Court shooting in Wynberg foiled after tip-off

Earlier today information was received via different social media platforms about a suspicious Quantum en route to Wynberg, with the objective to shoot a witness that was appearing in court today.

The Wynberg CBD Operational Team was mobilised to patrol and observe the area around the court.

While on patrol, the members noticed the Quantum parked on Church Street with 7 occupants.

The members approached the Quantum using their tactical training and instructed the occupants to get out of the vehicle.

The occupants were searched and were found in possession of three prohibited firearms, ammunition, dangerous weapons, cell phones and narcotics.

Initial investigations suggest the suspects have links to known gangs and may be involved in previous shootings.
The suspects, residing in Vrygrond, Seawinds, Retreat, Westlake, Mfuleni and Tafelsig were arrested and handed over to Wynberg SAPS for further investigation.
