Bus accident on N1 north of Trompsburg. The Free State Emergency Medical Services confirms that a bus carrying approximately 60 passengers overturned shortly after 21:30 on the N1, about 24 km north of Trompsburg in the direction of Edenburg.
Current situation
• The bus is lying across the N1, obstructing the roadway.
• Multiple injuries and fatalities have been reported.
• Emergency services have been activated and are on scene.
• Law enforcement is on scene and managing the incident.
*Initial reports indicate:*
• 14 injured persons outside the bus.
• One child’s hand is trapped under the bus.
• 11 people are reported as deceased so far – 5 children and 6 adults – their gender and identities cannot be fully determined at this stage.
