Female Driver Critically Injured In Shooting: Dawncrest – KZN

A 43-year-old female was critically injured and her 21-year-old passenger was shot on Jabu Ngcobo Road near Dawncrest – KZN today (Friday, 07/08/2026).

At approximately 16:26, the Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Operations Centre received multiple calls from members of the public reporting the shooting.

It is alleged that two (2) men were seen walking towards a white VW Golf 8 and firing multiple shots while both women were seated inside. The driver was shot multiple times and left in a critical condition. Her passenger sustained a gunshot wound to her thigh.

The driver appears to have been the intended target of the gunmen. Both women were stabilised at the scene before being expedited to hospital by ambulance.

The motive for the shooting could not be established.
