The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) has been alerted to an incident involving a fallen tree on Beyers Naudé Drive near West Park Cemetery.
A tree has fallen across the roadway, coming to rest on a motor vehicle. There were no passengers in the vehicle. The driver, who was the sole occupant, luckily sustained no injuries.
JMPD officers are currently on the scene. We are awaiting the arrival of Johannesburg City Parks to assist with the removal of the tree and the clearing of the debris.
Due to the size of the tree, the affected section of Beyers Naudé Drive remains closed to traffic. This closure is expected to cause significant delays in the Randburg area.
Motorists are advised to avoid Beyers Naudé Drive in the vicinity of West Park Cemetery. Use alternative routes such as Judith Road, Preller Drive, or Tesselar Terrace to navigate around the obstruction.
