Motorists advised to resolve outstanding traffic summonses before travelling during this holiday season

Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Mr. Jackie Macie is calling on motorists to settle outstanding traffic summonses before commencing with their festive season trips.

The MEC says that traffic law enforcement officers will be deployed in numbers especially during peak travel times and in most instances, the Automated Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) commonly referred to as Nyamsoro, will be part of those deployments.

He adds that Nyamsoro will also look for individuals or vehicles with unpaid summonses and those with warrants of arrests need to urgently act on them to avoid unnecessary delays when stopped along the way.

“We will deploy Nyamsoro across the province to help us enforce the law and deal with errant motorists who ignore summonses issued to them for violating the rules of the road. Therefore, as part of arranging holiday trips, motorists must ensure that they deal with outstanding summonses before taking to the road,” says Macie.
