Upon arrival, Paramedics discovered that a long-distance bus carrying 59 passengers bound for Johannesburg had been involved in a heavy collision with a truck. The severe force of the impact forced the truck off the roadway, causing it to lose its cargo, which spilt directly into oncoming lanes.
Despite the high-impact nature of the incident and the serious hazard created by the spilt load, no other vehicles were involved.
The medical team immediately assessed all occupants on scene. A total of seven individuals-six bus passengers and the truck driver-sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious. Paramedics stabilised all seven patients on scene before transporting them to nearby hospitals for further definitive care.
