The suspects were arrested on Sunday, 23 August 2026, at about 10:00 along the R71 road between Gravelotte and Phalaborwa, in the Mopani District.
According to information received, two security guards spotted a Toyota Corolla parked off the road near a bridge. Believing that the vehicle could have been involved in an accident, they responded to the scene to offer assistance.
Upon arrival, they discovered that the vehicle was allegedly loaded with five bags of dagga. The security guards immediately contacted members of the Gravelotte Police Station.
Police responded to the scene and, during further inspection, discovered an additional six bags of dagga concealed underneath the bridge.
A total of eleven bags of dagga, with an estimated street value of approximately R1.2 million, were seized.
