Drivers Escape Injury In Collision: Canelands – KZN

Two (2) drivers aged 22 and 60 escaped injury following a high-impact collision on the southbound lane of the R102 between Canelands and Verulam – KZN this afternoon (Thursday, 13/08/2026).

The Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Operations Centre received multiple calls from passing motorists reporting the collision. Reaction Officers and RUSA Paramedics were immediately dispatched.

On arrival, First Responders located a white Toyota Corolla with extensive front-end damage. According to the 22-year-old driver of the Toyota Corolla, he attempted to overtake a white Toyota Hilux travelling in the fast lane.

As he entered the slow lane, the Toyota Hilux also changed lanes, resulting in the vehicles colliding. The impact caused the Toyota Corolla to spin out of control and crash into a barrier.

Both drivers were assessed, but did not require further medical intervention….
