Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), who were returning from an unrelated call for assistance, came across the collision. It was established that the driver of a white Nissan Almera crossed into the path of oncoming traffic and collided with a red Chery Tiggo and a silver Nissan Micra.
According to witnesses, the intoxicated male had been driving erratically moments before the collision.
Empty alcohol bottles (picture 7) were found inside the Nissan Almera. A female passenger in the Chery Tiggo was treated at the scene by a private ambulance service after sustaining minor injuries.
The intoxicated driver was restrained by Reaction Officers and handed over to the Verulam SAPS in KZN for further investigation
