ATNS Launches “Ride to Education” Bicycle Initiative to Empower Learners This Mandela Day

Air Traffic and Navigation Services (ATNS) SOC Ltd today marked Nelson Mandela Day by launching the Shova Ufunde Bicycle Campaign, Ride to Education, providing 80 bicycles to learners from Retsamaile Combined School in Botshabelo, Free State.

The initiative, which forms part of the ATNS’ Corporate Social Investment programme, directly addresses one of the major barriers to education for learners in rural areas, namely long and often difficult journeys to school.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Ms Teboho Fihla, Chairperson of the ATNS Social and Ethics Committee, said the initiative reflects ATNS’ commitment to creating meaningful social impact in the communities it serves.

“This year’s Nelson Mandela Day theme reminds us that it is still in our hands to combat poverty and inequity. Today, ATNS responds to that call through action. These bicycles are more than a mode of transport – they are a pathway to education, opportunity and a brighter future.”
