On Friday 10 July 2026 at 11:45, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Bronberg By-Laws Officers, in conjunction with South African Police Services (SAPS) Welbekend Officers, Tshwane Metropolitan Police Department (TMPD) Officers and well known private security personnel, arrested eight male suspects between the ages of thirty-one (31) and fifty-two (52), for possession of stolen police equipment, including uniforms, in the Bapsfontein area.
While on duty, law enforcement Officers responded to a request from a security company, to be on the lookout for certain suspicious motor vehicles. A blue VW Polo GTI with four (4) male occupants, including the driver, was stopped and searched, at the corner of R50 and R25.
Officers found an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, EMPD uniform, JMPD uniform, SAPS uniform and blue lights in the vehicle.
