A driver has been arrested for reckless driving in Kempton Park

The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) O.R. Thambo International Airport (ORTIA) Officers arrested a male suspect for reckless and negligent driving in the Kempton Park area.

As the Officers were enforcing on Voortrekker Road, they attempted to stop a silver Volkswagen Polo Vivo. The driver failed to stop and fled. Officers chased the vehicle, and the driver lost control, struck palisade poles and continued fleeing on foot, abandoning the vehicle at the scene.

The chase continued until he was apprehended at Airport Cargo. Officers returned to the accident scene with the suspect and the control room to search and inspect the vehicle. The vehicle registration did not correspond with the vehicle, and a vehicle identification number (VIN) check revealed the vehicle was red, not silver as displayed.

The suspect was detained and taken to Kempton Park police station for further processing….
