This morning at 07:40, traffic officers stopped a Toyota Quantum taxi travelling at 162 km/h on the N1 near Bela Bela.
The legal speed limit for taxis in South Africa is 100 km/h.
The driver was arrested on the scene and was handed over to Bela-Bela SAPS for detention.
The Department reminds all drivers that speeding puts lives at risk. Law enforcement operations continue daily to keep our roads safe.
