Man Declared Deceased Following Cardiac Arrest: Westbrook Beach – KZN

A 38-year-old man was tragically declared deceased after suffering a cardiac arrest on Westbrook Beach in Westbrook, KwaZulu-Natal, on Monday morning.

IPSS Medical Rescue together with IPSS S&R Tongaat volunteers was first on scene after multiple reports of a possible drowning. Upon arrival, paramedics found family members performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the unresponsive patient on the shoreline. Advanced

Life Support Paramedics immediately took over and initiated advanced life support resuscitation.

It is understood that the man, who was on holiday in KwaZulu-Natal, had exited the surf shortly before collapsing and going into cardiac arrest.

Despite extensive resuscitation efforts, the patient could not be revived and was declared deceased on scene.

The man’s identity was confirmed by family members who were present at the time of the incident.
