A suspected hijacker was shot and killed after an attempted hijacking of a truck on the N3 North just before the R23/Benoni offramp.
The incident occurred at around 11:30 this morning (January 23).
According to reports, it is alleged that three suspects forced the truck to a stop before attempting to hijack the vehicle.
The driver reportedly took action and shot at the suspects. One was decleared deceased at the scene. It is believed that a second sustained gunshot wounds but managed to escape alongside one other suspect.
The crime scene remains active at this time. Please approach the scene with caution while law enforcement continue their investigations.
Members of AfriForum Heidelberg and private security officers are also attending to the scene.
